Parkinson’s and Vision

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system causing dysfunction of motor organization. This affects posture, balance, and speech. Visual field neglect or loss is also common with Parkinson’s patients, leaving them with difficulties in how to visualize space and move throughout their world. Common symptoms for patient’s with Parkinson’s include:

  • Double vision

  • Blurry vision

  • Trouble keeping eyes open

  • Words moving or blurring

When such difficulties occur, confidence interacting with the world dwindles.
