Dr. Tanya Polec OD, FCOVD, FNORA
With more than two decades of dedicated experience in vision therapy and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation, Dr. Polec has earned a distinguished reputation as a leader in the functional visual realm. Through her mentor and personal optometrist, Dr. David Friedel (who personally trained with Skeffington and other leaders), Dr. Polec has learned and continues to study how vision is dynamic, spatial and integrates with all senses. Her “whole person, whole body” approach to vision expands what is possible from the current and dominant concepts of vision as eyesight.
Patient-Centered Approach
Dr. Polec specializes in serving individuals with various neurological conditions, including concussions, strokes, balance, and learning-related difficulties. This extensive experience has enabled her to develop a deep understanding of the unique needs of her patients, facilitating the restoration of visual function and overall quality of life.

In collaboration with esteemed colleagues such as Dr. William Padula and Dr. Mo Mortazavi, Dr. Polec has played an instrumental role in advancing the field of brain injury rehabilitation and assessment. Together, they have published numerous research papers, contributing significantly to the collective knowledge base of this specialized area.
Vision Consultancy
As a Vision Consultant at the Sports Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Concussion Center (SPARCC), Dr. Polec provides expert guidance and insights into the vision-related aspects of patient care. This role positions her as a critical contributor to the comprehensive well-being of patients seeking specialized care within this multidisciplinary medical center.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Polec also has a deep commitment to the education and advocacy of individuals with learning needs. She has developed a vision centered program within a school for children with autism and learning disabilities. She weekly guides both students and academic teams.
